Larkspur Bakehouse
A homepage that looked finished — and said almost nothing.
The design was fine. The problem was underneath it: two sentences of copy, no location detail, nothing for a search engine or an AI assistant to actually cite. We kept the visual identity and rebuilt the words around it.
The Homepage Copy
Same design, rebuilt content
We bake fresh every day. Stop by and say hi!
Larkspur Bakehouse has been proofing sourdough and laminating croissants two blocks off Clarendon since 2018. Every loaf is naturally leavened and baked in small batches; our pastry case turns over completely by early afternoon, and our custom cake orders are booked by hand, not by form.
Why It Matters Now
Written for people — and increasingly, for the assistants they ask
What Changed
Four structural additions
Location, made explicit
"Clarendon," "Arlington," and the founding year replace vague phrases like "our neighborhood" — specific, citable anchors instead of atmosphere.
An FAQ block
Short question-and-answer pairs are the single most reliably cited format for AI assistants — they map directly onto how people phrase their questions.
Real product detail
"Naturally leavened," "laminated croissants," and order-lead-time specifics replace generic claims like "fresh every day" with things worth repeating.
Expanded meta description
The behind-the-scenes page description was rewritten to match the new content, so search snippets and AI summaries pull the same accurate detail.
Industry Benchmarks
What this kind of work tends to move
These are third-party, published benchmarks for content optimization generally — not a projected outcome for Larkspur specifically. Every site starts from a different baseline, and results vary.
Avg. increase in organic search views on refreshed content
HubSpot found that updating and expanding older blog posts nearly doubled organic search views on those pages, and roughly tripled the leads they generated.
Traffic uplift from structural additions
SearchPilot's controlled A/B tests found that adding structured sections — like FAQs or pros/cons blocks — to existing pages drove organic traffic gains as high as 50% on individual tests.
